The Start of Me and You

The Start of Me and You
By Emery Lord

It’s been a year since it happened—when Paige Hancock’s first boyfriend died in an accident. After shutting out the world for two years, Paige is finally ready for a second chance at high school . . . and she has a plan. First: Get her old crush, Ryan Chase, to date her—the perfect way to convince everyone she’s back to normal. Next: Join a club—simple, it’s high school after all. But when Ryan’s sweet, nerdy cousin, Max, moves to town and recruits Paige for the Quiz Bowl team (of all things!) her perfect plan is thrown for a serious loop. Will Paige be able to face her fears and finally open herself up to the life she was meant to live?

Spoiler Alert!

3.5/5 stars

Alright, I know what you're thinking. 3.5 stars? I know I usually give out 5 stars, but to be honest, this book just isn't worthy of the 5 star title. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad book. It was okay. I feel like this book had the potential of being good, but it just didn't really reach it. Okay, I'm making this sound a lot worse than it is. I just thought that the writing wasn't that good, and the story wasn't as well developed as it could be. Not to be harsh. There were a lot of moments in the book that were really cheesy. Like REALLy. But now that I'm through with the nitty gritty, let's get down to the characters. I know what you all want to know... the question is, who is better? Ryan or Max???    To be honest.. I think Max is better. Also, Ryan was like totally flirting with Paige's friend, so where does she think she was going with that??? But then again... Ryan kinda did kiss her on the face... it said it was a friendly kiss......... but what friends kiss each other? on the face??!! OK, now that I'm done with that, can we talk about how apparently she didn't know that she liked Max?? And everyone else did??? What was that about??? ALSo, what was that scene where they were in the closet?? If you like her than just tell her ??? What was he even trying to do there ?? And, more importantly, why did he just go from ignoring Paige and kind of hating her to loving her?? Like all of a sudden he was just like, I LOVE YOU. But anyway, okay book. okay book.
