Siege and Storm

Siege and Storm
By Leigh Bardugo

Darkness never dies.

Hunted across the True Sea, haunted by the lives she took on the Fold, Alina must try to make a life with Mal in an unfamiliar land. She finds starting new is not easy while keeping her identity as the Sun Summoner a secret. She can’t outrun her past or her destiny for long.

The Darkling has emerged from the Shadow Fold with a terrifying new power and a dangerous plan that will test the very boundaries of the natural world. With the help of a notorious privateer, Alina returns to the country she abandoned, determined to fight the forces gathering against Ravka. But as her power grows, Alina slips deeper into the Darkling’s game of forbidden magic, and farther away from Mal. Somehow, she will have to choose between her country, her power, and the love she always thought would guide her--or risk losing everything to the oncoming storm.

Ok so.... I mean this book was ok but I mean... nothing spectacular or anything. So they start off trying to push this whole love triangle thing, but to be perfectly honest I really don't think either of her options are all that great. I mean so there is Mal, the Dean (Gilmore Girls) of this book aka the super clingy first boyfriend kinda guy. So I don't know about you but I HATED HIM. He was Dean all the way!! If you are a Dean I'm gonna hate you, its just a fact. Then there is "the Darkling"... Does he really count as an option? I mean he doesn't even have a name. Not to mention he is a freaking murderous tyrant who kinda wants to kill like everyone..... I have read a couple review and people say stuff like Oh he is just misunderstood!!! Misunderstood? I really don't see how killing a bunch of people can really be misunderstood... I understand he killed them all to help the whole country or whatever but I mean he still killed them sooooooooooo. People also say "He just doesn't realize what he is doing or what he has become!" I mean I just think that once you have started stalking a girl who clearly wants nothing to do with you because you have no friends or anyone to talk to, it might be a tiny hint that something is wrong you know ( YAAAAA KNOWWWWW??????). So your two options are the evil king and the clingy annoying solder guy... Not to great options. AND THEN COMES NIKOLAI! CLEARLY THE BEST CHOICE. I mean he is super nice, super rich, a PRINCE, and he can get you all the power or whatever you need to get rid of the Darkling! BUT NO SHE IS LIKE OMG MAL I LOVE YOU!!! So clearly she is not quite right in the head if you know what I mean. Now see I read this book a little while ago and I haven't gotten around to writing this review so by now I have read the third book, so they are kinda blending together for me so I'm sorry! Ok also I just had to add, you know the collar she has to wear? Is it just me or does that see like super uncomfortable and I would get a little claustrophobic wearing it because it can't come off. You know what I mean? ALSO how on earth would you be able to sleep with that on?? And you hair would get caught in it and you can never wear necklaces again!!! Just all around not a fun time you know? (YAAAAAAAA KNOWWWWWW???????) I mean again, like I said at the beginning, it was pretty good. Nothing to get to excited about but if you read the first book why not read the second, right?
